The 2021
Ride

Ride4Life 2021 stepped back in time to the inaugural ride of 2016, from Doncaster to London.

It was this first epic ride from the Lutine and Uris Group’s offices in Doncaster that launched Ride4Life which, had raised more than £20,000 for a selection of very worthy causes. Original team member, Gavin Pumford, joined founding Ride4Life organizer Andy Coles and his close friend Damien Natale on that first 185 mile journey to Lutine’s origins in the City of London.

Sadly, and as many of you know, Andy and Damien lost their lives in a road traffic accident on 1 st June 2020 whilst training for the 2020 ride.

With them forever in our minds, the Ride4Life 2021 event looked to replicate the route which started it all.

At 0:01am on Friday 27 th August 2021 the group set off from Doncaster Quay point office, and made their way to the iconic finish line of Leadenhall Market.

A rather fitting 202.1 miles and (perhaps less inspiring) 6,000ft of climbing stood in their way – but it didn’t stop them and they rolled in to Leadenhall almost exactly on time, despite a couple of technical setbacks along the way!

The 2021 ride proudly supported Samaritans, and raised a whopping £25,000 to help them do what they do best.

You can see how the ride unfolded live and as it happened over on the 2021 live tracking page, which also links off to some *interesting* blog posts that were written along the way.

The Charity

In 2021 we rode for Samaritans.

Samaritans is available day or night, for anyone who is struggling to cope or just needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. Their vision is that fewer people die by suicide and by providing the right support, Samaritans believe it’s something that can be prevented.

Established in 1953, with the aim to listen confidentially and without judgement, the team has grown from just one to 20,000 volunteers based in 201 branches across the UK and Ireland taking calls, answering emails or speaking to people face-to-face.

Samaritans is not only there for a moment of crisis; they work within their local communities to take preventative action by supporting people from all walks of life. They give people ways to cope, the skills to be there for others and, encourage and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.
